What We Do
We develop, own, and operate solar projects that power our community solar program. Partnering with Maine landowners, we build small, community-scale solar projects that blend into the landscape and support grazing, growing, and pollinator habitats.
How It Works
- We evaluate your site and determine if it's a good fit for a solar project
- If it is, we enter into a 20-year lease term (with options to extend to 40 years)
- The project generates clean energy and sends it into the local grid. Our members subscribe to the project and save 10-20% on their annual electric costs
- At the end of the lease period, we decommission the project and return it to its original condition
Our Site Criteria
Our 2-acre solar projects power 50-80 Maine homes and can be built side by side on larger properties. Their small size allows connection to single-phase power lines, making them ideal for rural areas that typically can't host larger solar farms.
We're looking for sites:
- Within Central Maine Power (CMP) utility territory
- With a minimum of 2 acres of cleared land
- Within 500 feet of an existing power line
- Accessible from the road
Basic Lease Terms
- 20-year lease term with options to extend to 40 years
- Annual lease payments of $4,000 per project, escalated to match inflation
- 1-acre array footprint with a surrounding 1-acre easement for shade management and agricultural use
- We cover all the costs of the installation and maintenance of the project
- We also fully fund the cost of decommissioning the project prior to its commercial operation and the site is fully restored within 180 days of lease expiration
