Membership is open to all residential and small business customers of Central Maine Power.

 

While we’re not currently enrolling members whose electricity is delivered by Versant Power, we encourage you to pre-register and we’ll keep you updated.

How to Become a Member

Becoming a member is easy!

  1. Review the Member Agreement, Subscriber Agreement, and Disclosure Form. Bylaws and other governing documents are available on the About page.

  2. Complete the membership form via the link.

  3. The team will review your info, and send an invoice to pay the one-time $100 membership fee.

  4. Upon payment, your spot will be reserved for an upcoming project. You’ll be provided updates throughout the development and construction process and reserved a VIP spot at the ribbon cutting!

  5. Once the system is operational, you’ll begin receiving bill credits on your monthly electricity bill, reducing the amount you pay through Central Maine Power. Payment for the discounted bill credits will be due after you’ve received these benefits on your electricity bill.

Member Benefits

Economic

  • Members subscribe to purchase discounted net energy billing credits from solar projects owned by the cooperative. This will reduce your electricity rate by 20%.

  • Because the coop owns the solar assets, prices will remain stable over the 20+ year term of the program.

  • Over time, profits beyond annual operating costs will be distributed to members, further benefiting member households.

Energy Democracy

  • As a shareholder in the cooperative, your wealth grows along with the organization.

  • The Board of Directors is directly elected by members, representing its diversity of voices. 

  • Directors set policy representing the interests of the membership.
