Our goal is to help you save money on your electricity bills every month. Utility billing can be complex, and we’re here to make it easier to understand your real costs and savings.
If you are enrolled in the Central Maine Power (CMP) SimplePay program, you’ll have to unenroll from this program before we can assign your account to one of our solar projects.
What is the CMP SimplePay program?
SimplePay is an optional CMP program that keeps your monthly bill steady by averaging your electricity costs over the year. It’s a great option if you prefer predictable bills and want to avoid seasonal fluctuations.
How can I tell if I’m enrolled in the SimplePay program?
SimplePay is opt-in, so you would have had to request enrollment. To check, look at the first page of your most recent CMP bill. If you see “SimplePay Amount” in the Your Account Summary section (see example below), you’re enrolled.

Why do I have to unenroll from the SimplePay program to be assigned to an MCPC solar project?
When you join our community solar program, your CMP electricity usage drops close to zero because your usage is offset by solar credits. This lowers your CMP bill, but the SimplePay program can take 6–12 months to adjust to this change.
If you stay enrolled in SimplePay, your monthly payments may not decrease right away, and you could end up overpaying before receiving credit later. To ensure immediate and predictable savings, we ask that you unsubscribe before assignment.
When do I have to unenroll?
You can remain enrolled in SimplePay until we notify you that you’ve been assigned to one of our solar projects. We’ll give you at least two months’ notice before your solar credits begin appearing on your CMP bill and ask you to unsubscribe then if you haven’t already
How do I unenroll from the SimplePay program?
You can unenroll from the SimplePay program at any time by contacting Central Maine Power customer service.
What happens to any existing credits on my CMP account after unenrolling from the SimplePay program?
Your next CMP bill will reflect any credits or payments due.
Does MCPC offer a similar program?
Not at this time. Your monthly costs with MCPC will be based on your actual electricity usage each month, but your total costs will still be 10%, 15%, or 20% lower than the market rate.
What can I do if I don’t want to unenroll from the SimplePay program?
If you prefer to remain in the SimplePay program, you can cancel your Maine Community Power Cooperative membership by contacting us at support@mainecommunitypower.com.
